What this page covers
This page sets out how the Royal Reels Watch research desk decides what to publish: the status labels we use, the kinds of evidence we accept, how we rank sources, how we choose player quotes, how often we recheck each topic and how we fix mistakes.
It is a companion to how we tested Royal Reels, which lists the individual checks we ran, and to our editorial policy, which covers independence and right of reply.
The four status labels
Every finding on this site carries one of four labels. We copy the label the research desk assigned when the evidence was last reviewed, and we never quietly promote a finding to a stronger label.
| Label | What it means |
|---|---|
| Verified | The claim is supported by an official record, or by two or more independent sources that agree. |
| Needs clarification | Sources disagree, or a figure is published without the detail needed to confirm it. We show every version. |
| Under investigation | We have one source, an automated read, or a search result we have not yet confirmed by hand. |
| Resolved | A conflict between sources has been settled by an official record, and we say which record settled it. |
A label describes the strength of the evidence, not our opinion of the brand. A Needs clarification or Under investigation finding is never written up as settled, and we say in the text what is still missing.
Evidence types
We tag each finding with the kind of evidence behind it, so you can weigh it yourself:
- Official record: a regulator notice, a licence or enforcement register, or the text of the law.
- Secondary sources agree: two or more review databases publishing the same figure.
- Single secondary source: one database or one news report only.
- Player reports: what people have written on public platforms.
- Estimate: modelled traffic data, industry projections or our own search counts. We always keep the word estimate attached.
Source order
Regulators, licence registers and legislation come first. Where ACMA, the Curacao Gaming Authority, the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, PAGCOR or legislation.gov.au record something, that record sets the fact and the date.
Review databases come second, and we attribute their figures to them by name rather than stating them as fact. Player platforms come third, and are reported as what one player said.
Estimate tools come last. Where a traffic figure or a search count is modelled, we label it an estimate and name the limitation.
When the brand has no approved website on any register we checked, published terms can only come from third parties, so the actual terms a player sees may differ. That caveat sits with the finding rather than being dropped.
Variants: when sources disagree
If two credible sources give different numbers, we do not pick one. We publish a table with every version, the source and the as-of date, and we say which, if any, an official record settles. Licences, withdrawal limits, payout times, bonus wagering, game counts and the company name behind the brand are all recorded this way on the licence and ownership and topic pages.
Dates: as of, last checked, last materially updated
Three dates do different jobs, and we keep them apart.
- As of is the date of the information inside the source, for example the date of a regulator notice or of a database’s terms. It is never the date we looked.
- Last checked is the date the research desk last opened the source and confirmed the finding still reads the same.
- Last materially updated is the date the facts themselves last changed.
Across the site, the last checked date is 6 October 2026 and the last material update is also 6 October 2026. A page can be freshly checked and still show old facts; that is the point of separating the two.
How often we recheck
Each topic has its own cadence. Withdrawals, bonuses, account restrictions, complaints and domains are rechecked weekly, because terms and mirror activity move quickly. Legal status, licence and ownership, games and fairness, player protection and transparency are rechecked monthly. The next scheduled monthly update is November 2026, and overdue topics are flagged rather than hidden.
How player reports are chosen and labelled
We quote player reports word for word, including the original spelling, and we give the platform and the date with a link where the platform allows it. We never print usernames.
We select for range rather than for effect: positive, mixed and negative reports about the same topic sit side by side. Reports we could see only in a search index, and could not open on the platform itself, are marked as seen in a search index only.
A report is what one person said on a public platform. It is not a proven fact and it is not representative of every customer. Where we count reports, we say so plainly: our tally of the 80 latest Trustpilot reviews and our sample of 15 Casino.guru complaint files are our own rough classifications, drawn from self-selected samples, and we name that limit alongside the numbers in the complaints tracker.
What we do not do
We do not link to, name as an address, or explain how to reach any Royal Reels or Reef Reels domain, or to affiliate sites that do. Mirror sites are referred to by number only, and we never say which number is working.
We publish no scores, star ratings or rankings of our own, no bonus codes and no sign-up steps. We do not compute new figures beyond counting items we have listed, and where a calculation is ours, we say so.
Corrections
If a finding on this site is wrong or out of date, tell us and we will check it. Send the detail, and a link or document where you have one, through our contact and evidence page or to [email protected].
We aim to review every correction and, where a fact changes, update the finding, its status and its last materially updated date. The operator is welcome to send a statement the same way; where the knowledge base records no response from the operator, we say so rather than leaving a gap.
Conflicts of interest
This site is independent monitoring of Royal Reels. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or paid by Royal Reels or its operator. There are no affiliate links and no casino advertising on these pages. Our named author and reviewer, Justin Moore, is a Royal Reels customer who reviews the findings on his own initiative and is not paid for that work; his role and his own words are set out on the about and independence page.
